Strategic Project Management (SPM) defines how a project may benefit a company’s efficiency and strategic plan as a whole. This is not only for setting up category strategy but also for any other strategies to improve procurement efficiencies and transform traditional procurement into strategic procurement.
The objective of this solution is to ensure the following:
- Setting up strategies and collaboratively executing the same is an integral part of MeRLIN.
- Enable non-procurement stakeholders to access the tasks and report progress
- Capture and report collaboration across all the stakeholders and their role in executing such projects/tasks.
- Provide visibility of all strategies and their progress to all stakeholders.
Setup a strategic initiative
As part of the regular stakeholder review process, strategic objectives will be agreed upon. This feature allows users to define such objectives with a work breakdown structure and assign people responsible for each task and their roles. These people may also be from outside the procurement team, they would need to be assigned users of MeRLIN though. It will also provide the ability to define success criteria and how to measure the same. Schedules are required to be defined so that progress can be monitored.
Provides the ability to set up challenges in executing the strategy and the ways to overcome such challenges by capturing action items/tasks, assigning persons/people responsible, etc.
The solution will be built around the OKR (Objectives and Key Results) framework. OKR articulates a strategy into goals to be achieved, that then drive tactical plans. An Objective describes what needs to be accomplished and has a set of Key Results that describe how you’ll know when you’ve accomplished it.
Allocate tasks to stakeholders
Identify the list of stakeholders and allocate tasks with timelines to each of the stakeholders so that the same will appear in their task list for them to review and update progress.
The stakeholder workbench will provide visibility to each of the tasks they are responsible for with the time schedules and progress.
