All the RFIs, RFQs, and Auctions related activities can be performed under the Sourcing Event Management section.
The purpose of the menus related to RFIs is to provide a Functionality to Buyers named Request for Information (RFI) Management. In-Sourcing, RFIs are floated to Suppliers one stage before regular RFQs as a way to get general information from the Suppliers to evaluate their capability, cultural fit, etc. Once Suppliers’ responses to RFI is received, it can either be closed/archived or converted into an RFQ by choosing a subset of Suppliers based on their responses.
RFIs can be floated either to get market feedback or to continue with sourcing and submit Awards. In case of market feedback, they will be floated as open RFIs and in case of sourcing, Sealed bids may be the preferred option.
Also, RFIs can be floated for both materials and services procurement.
In MeRLIN Buyer Portal, RFQs can be created in one of the following two ways:
- From BoM Items Workbench using the parts processed through BoM upload. For more details on how to create RFQ from parts processed from BoM, please refer BoM Items Workbench submenu under the Demand Management on the left side navigation pane.
- New RFQs can be created from Active Material RFQs under the Sourcing Event Management.
Auction Management is an electronic auction system bringing competition into the market through which a purchasing organization may run events in which suppliers bid against each other to supply the buyer with a given range of goods or services.
All the Sourcing events such as RFIs, RFQs, and Auctions can be accessed under the Sourcing Event Management main menu on the left-side navigation pane.
