Category Definition defines various attributes of a chosen Category. Such attributes will decide the behavior of various Business processes of MeRLIN related to the associated Categories. Only approved categories will be displayed in the Manage Category Definition. Again, it is Organization Unit specific, only the categories belonging to the selected Organization Unit will be displayed.
The Manage Category Definition will let you add Buyers, Preferred Suppliers and Blacklisted Suppliers to the existing categories. You can access the Category Definition section by clicking on the Category Definition submenu in the left-hand side menu bar.
User Interface
Choose an organization Unit from the Organization Unit drop down, the Category hierarchy will only display the categories belonging to this selected Organization Unit. All the activities you perform will be only applicable to the categories of this organization unit.
1. Action: Expand option will expand all the nodes of Categories, the Collapse option will collapse all the category nodes.
2. Edit Definition: This option will let you add new buyers, add preferred Suppliers and add Suppliers to the blacklist for the selected category. The Edit definition can be performed only after the changelog description is entered.
3. Action (against changelog item): Using this Action button you can Edit, Delete and View the items with status Draft. View the change and view the Workflow History for approved requests.
How to Add Category Definitions
Menu Path: Category Management >> Manage Category Definition
- Click on Edit Definition.
- Enter a description or the purpose of the changes you would like to make to the category and click on Submit.
Now move to the respective attribute tab and make changes to the category definition. Once the changes are made, move to the change log to see the list of all the changes made and move to the approval tab to submit these changes for approval.
