The Category Hierarchy features can be accessed by clicking on the “Category Hierarchy” sub-menu under the Category Management main menu in the left-side navigation pane. This sub-menu is used to create, update, delete and approve Categories in MeRLIN.
User Interface
1. Category Hierarchy
The Tree view under Category Hierarchy represents the hierarchy of Item Categories.
2. Action
Edit: If you wish to make changes to the hierarchy by adding or removing Categories, choose “Edit” from the “Action” button. Provide a description or purpose of the proposed change when asked for and then proceed with the changes.
Expand: Expand the category to view all the child categories.
Collapse: Click on this option to collapse all the categories.
Download Excel: Download the excel template and fill in details as required. A sample template is shown below. Download and upload options are made available only if the Initial Set Up is No in the Menu Path: Business Administration >> Application Configuration >> Category Management)
Upload Excel: Upload the filled excel template to upload the categories and associated details.
3. History of Changes: The details of all the changes along with the username, changed date and status of the changes made.
4. If you wish to make further changes to the Categories under Draft or Rejected status, choose “Edit” from the “Action” button of the associated change. You will be able to add and manage a maximum of 4 levels or depths of Categories in MeRLIN. Using this Action button you can Edit, Delete and View the items with status Draft. View the change and view the Workflow History for approved requests.
5. Refer to the Legend at the bottom of the hierarchy for the meaning of color codes.
6. Organization Unit: Choose your organization unit from the list of organizations to view the organization-specific categories.
